Green Buildings (LEED)

Dynamic Air Quality Solutions is proud to be a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED® is the preeminent program for the design, construction, maintenance, and operations of high-performance green buildings.

The Dynamic V8 Air Cleaning System exceeds the MERV 13 minimum and approaches HEPA filtration levels by providing MERV 15+ performance while operating at much lower static pressures.  In addition, Dynamic V8 media provides over 10 (ten) times the media life when compared to comparable passive filters.

Under the rating system, dynamic air cleaning systems can contribute toward earning points in the LEED v4 green building rating system.

LEED v4 Building Design and Construction (BD+C): New Construction

  • Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ), Enhanced Indoor Air Quality Strategies Credit
  • Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ), Acoustic Performance Credit
  • Energy & Atmosphere (EA), Optimize Energy Performance Credit

LEED EQ for Existing Buildings

Under LEED v4 Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M) Existing Buildings (EB) projects are rewarded for benchmarking and reducing actual energy use via the performance score, which measures the intended outcomes of energy efficiency strategies.

The LEED v4 EQ category combines traditional approaches with emerging design strategies. For example, source control is addressed in prerequisites, and a credit specifies an indoor air quality assessment to measure the actual outcome of these strategies. Emerging design techniques may involve advanced lighting metrics, acoustics, and a holistic emissions-based approach.

LEED v4 Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M): Existing Buildings

  • Indoor Air Quality Management Program credit (2 points)
  • Enhanced Indoor Air Quality Strategies credit (2 points)
  • Occupant Comfort Survey credit. This is not a prerequisite in LEED v4, but the Occupant Comfort Survey will become part of v4.1 Prerequisite: Indoor Environmental Quality Performance

LEED Interior Design and Construction (ID+C): Commercial Interiors

The low static pressure inherent in dynamic air cleaning systems can significantly reduce sound. This, in turn, can eliminate the need for sound-dampening solutions such as duct-lining treatments, baffles, silencers, duct sound attenuators, and/or electronic sound masking systems.

LEED v4 criteria take into account the value of good acoustics in enhancing occupant satisfaction and productivity. Under LEED v4 it is possible to qualify for two points toward the Acoustic Performance credit in the Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) section of the Interior Design and Construction (Commercial Interiors) rating system.

Credit requirements will be updated with LEED v4.1, which is currently in Beta phase.

There is also a business case to be made for healthy indoor environments, one that employers, investors, building developers and owners are discovering. A better indoor environment is better for people—and people are the most valuable resource in most organizations, typically accounting for 90 percent of business operating costs. Even a 1 percent improvement in productivity or in reduced absenteeism can have a major impact on the bottom line and competitiveness of any business. A 2012 study found that companies that adopt more rigorous environmental standards are associated with higher labor productivity, by an average of 16 percent, over non-green firms.
